The Great Get Together is the UK’s annual get together for neighbours. The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. We believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us. The Great Get Together will take place over the weekend of June 21st to 23rd. The official dates aren’t practical for every community so you can run one at any time you fancy between the 21st June and the end of September.
An event can be anything from a small gathering in a garden, park or driveway, to a larger party with trestle tables down the middle of your street.
Many neighbours and groups will be able to put on a lunch without any additional funding. For those who will need a little help we have some funding to help as many people take part as possible.
We are able to award small grants of up to £100 to support local Great Get Together activities and events across the Bradford district. This can include any of the following:
- A Street Party
- Community Barbeque
- A Pot Luck Supper
- A Picnic
- Anything that brings people together to acknowledge that we have more in common
A Panel will be convened no later than the 7th June (panel membership will include voluntary sector and Ward Officer /youth worker reps).
Successful applicants will be notified by email so that they can finalise planning their event.
More information about the Great Get Together can be found here
The closing date for applications is Friday 31st May 2019 at 5pm. All applicants will be notified of the results of the grants panel week commencing 10th June
