Nominated for this year’s Business Can Make a Difference category are:
Employees from XPO Logistics have volunteered at Bradford Central Foodbank. Due to their warehousing expertise they volunteered to help organise the warehouse, making it easier to pick food parcels. They also collected donations from a local supermarket and helped with picking food parcels as well as collecting and donating over 2 tonnes of food over the last 12 months which has an average monetary value of £4500. Another team of employees volunteered to develop a community allotment to make it a nicer place for the community to visit. During the day they cleared the land of weeds, laid bark and painted the shed. They did a fantastic job even making a memorial in memory of one of the founders of the allotment. Additionally they have raised £21,424.07 over the last 12 months which has been donated to various local charities.
Denso Marston Ltd
Denso Marston manage the Denso Marston Nature Reserve in Baildon which is a lovely peaceful area off the main Otley Road which attracts a lot of visitors and wildlife. There is a warden on the reserve and he is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about nature and organises wildlife walks, birdwatching events and activities for children, including school visits. Once a year the Celebration Day is held which showcases the work Denso do – there have been lots of improvements recently, enabling more people to access the reserve and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
