Healthcare Staff Swop Pens for Paint Brushes and Spades in Three Charity Makeovers
Staff from the Birkenshaw based healthcare company Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare will roll up their sleeves and get stuck into a day’s work which is somewhat different to their normal routine. Forty five staff members are giving up an afternoon on Wednesday 12th July to support not just one, but three simultaneous makeovers at three amazing charities. It is the first time ever that this has been done simultaneously by volunteers from a commercial company in the Bradford District.
The first project is a Community Centre Makeover at Frizinghall Community Centre. This much loved community centre works with a wide range of community groups, from trampoline classes improving mental health and posture, to providing a mini music festival to celebrate the national Great Get Together in memory of Jo Cox MP. As well as providing activities for young people and lunches for older people there is a lot going on in this valued community centre. Here the Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare team will reinvigorate the meeting spaces with a mammoth painting makeover and also improve the marketing of the centre by providing a new external noticeboard.
The second challenge is at Anchor Ashcroft Residential and Care Home for Older People in Undercliff. Here, in partnership with older residents, the staff volunteers will build a train out of pallets to create an accessible, raised flower bed garden. The garden has been specifically designed to engage residents and provide an interactive space for the residents to care for and enjoy.
Finally staff have just one afternoon to complete a further garden makeover. Their task is to transform a raised garden area for 24 disabled residents at Champion House, a home run by the disability Charity Leonard Cheshire. The home recently hosted a garden fete and music festival to welcome visitors who wanted to find out more about the work of this incredible charity.
Jeremy Taylor, Sales Director from Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, is leading the team. “We are swopping PCs for paintbrushes and trowels to give a much needed makeover to these three amazing, local community groups. At Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare our mission is to “Enhance the Quality of Life of the People We Touch” and what better way to do this than to be involved in these brilliant projects. This is our first time working with Dave and his team at the Bradford Volunteer Centre and we are really grateful for all his support, passion and expertise.”
Bradford Volunteer Centre, who is co-ordinating the projects, help companies big and small with corporate social responsibility support.
