Restorative Justice in Partnership
People can work together
Restorative Justice in Partnership – 14.04.16
The Bradford Restorative Justice Hub works in partnership with organisations across the district. This partnership ensures that where a restorative approach might be helpful, that processes are in place to allow that to happen.
Victim Support is one of the partners that works closely with the RJ Hub and undertakes joint work together.
Victim Support is an independent charity that is there to help anyone affected by crime, not only victims and witnesses, but their friends, family and any other people involved. You can talk to them whether or not you have reported the crime to the police.
They wouldn’t be able to carry out the important work they do to help people overcome the impact of crime without the hours that their volunteers dedicate to them. This comes in the form of emotional support, practical help and signposting to other organisations. Services are provided in victims’ homes, at there offices and at a variety of outreach services in the community.
Victim Support sees the real benefit that Restorative Justice can have for victims of crime. Often victims are left wanting to know why or have other questions that can only be answered by the person responsible for that crime. When victims are placed at the heart of the process, they are able to begin to take control and look at how they can begin to move forward.
