People Can: Volunteers required to help raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal at the Dragon Boat Festival.

The 2016 festival itself promises to be bigger and better thanks to our sponsors.  We have many attractions including Pulse 1 and their stage, live music provided by local bands and artists, street entertainment, stalls, workshops, children’s attractions, a big screen, beer tents and much more -Star War fans will also be pleased to know that there will be a special appearance by Garrison 501 (http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/) who want to be part of our celebration so watch out for the Storm Troopers.  You never know – Darth Vader might even make an appearance!

TeamsLord mayor boat

Team registration for the 2016 Dragon Boat Festival has been a phenomenal success.  By March we had completely sold out!  Last year we had 22 teams participating.  This year we have 45 teams registered, having exceed our original goal of 40 teams. Please see http://www.lmabradforddbf.co.uk/#/entry-information/4591878539 for the full list of teams taking part  and their donation links.

Teams have already created links to Local Giving so it really is easy for you to donate online and to ensure you gift aid it.

We will report back after the event to let you know how much each team raised for the charity. Currently Stroke of Luck  captained by Katrina Fuchs is in the lead but it is very closely followed by Britannia Rules  captained by Martin Stubbs. –

WE NEED YOU – Volunteers

We are now seeking further volunteers.  We require 100 people to help as stewards/marshals on the day.  You would be required to help out for the whole day on Saturday 7th May 2016 and would be working alongside volunteers from the University and businesses including experienced event members and professionally qualified events staff.

Training will be provided but we do need you to respond very quickly so that we can organise the necessary sessions.   Please get in touch with John Galt john.galt@bradford.gov.uk if you are interested.
