Bradford District Flood Appeal Raises £60,000
The Bradford District Flood Appeal has raised over £60,000 in funding in just a few weeks. Vital donations have come in from Morrisons Supermarkets PLC, Burberry, Yorkshire Building Society, Santander, West Riding Masonic Charities, Mark Master Masons, the Daily Mail newspaper, schools and generous individuals. People’s lives have been severely disrupted by the flooding around the Bradford District but these generous responses will help them return to normality. Pupils from Wycliffe CE Primary School in Shipley raised £186 in a “Wear Your Wellies to School Day”.
Dave Forrest, Manager of the Bradford District Community Fund which is hosting the appeal, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the amazing generosity of people supporting this appeal. We know that there are hundreds of households affected by flooding across the District and this money will all go to supporting them get back on their feet.” He has thanked everyone who has made a donation of any amount, stressing that “it will all make a difference”.
Community Fund staff and volunteers are already booked to speak about the appeal in schools, at community events, functions and faith based activities in Mosques, Churches and Temples and are available to support the work of the appeal.
